Measure Smarter, Not Harder.

Dupli-Fit directly and accurately locates the handlebar and bottom bracket (center of pedal rotation) relative to the saddle. Simply measuring saddle height does not uniquely define the relationship between the saddle and the pedals or bottom bracket. Also, distances cannot be measured accurately if the endpoints are not positively located and the scale is not accurately read.  Holding a tape measure between two points fails on all counts.  Dupli-Fit provides a positive location to the bottom bracket center and a separate scale for determining the handlebar centerline.

Equally important is that the right reference point is used, and that is it located accurately and repeatably. Dupli-Fit does this with an integral gage for locating the widely accepted saddle reference: 80 mm width.

Elegant design, accuracy and speed are not mutually exclusive!

FAQS

If length & angle is so much better than X, Y why isn’t it widely used?

Outdated approaches remain until better ones are developed and widely available. Bike setup/fit tools are not sold in large numbers so innovation comes more slowly.

But does that mean length and angle are any better?

Yes, because if we are comparing Dupli-Fit to even the most careful use of levels and tapes/meter-sticks and basic jigs, we are reducing the number of individual steps and the potential error involved with each step, which are largely due to lack of registration and parallax error.

Why not do a better job with X, Y instead of inventing a different approach?

Because X, Y is fundamentally flawed. It became the standard when levels and meter sticks were what was available.  Don’t we describe a bike’s handling characteristics in terms of length and angle? More directly, fitters work in length and angle.  A goniometer uses exactly the same principles. Shouldn’t we use the same language for the bike as we do the body?

If my fit data is X, Y how can I “Dupli” my fit in length and angle?

You’d have to go to an online calculator to convert, but we saved you the time and went one better by providing both tabular and graphic representation of up to five bikes in an Excel-based app available as a free download on the site.
