Simply measuring saddle height does not uniquely define the relationship between the saddle and the pedals or bottom bracket. Also, distances cannot be measured accurately if the endpoints are not positively located and the scale is not accurately read. Holding a tape measure between two points fails on all counts. Dupli-Fit provides a positive location to the bottom bracket center and a separate scale for determining the handlebar centerline.
Equally important is that the right reference point is used, and that is it located accurately and repeatably. Dupli-Fit does this with an integral gage for locating the widely accepted saddle reference: 80 mm width.
